Legal Assistant

We are looking for a legal assistant with experience in the area of real estate and/or corporate/commercial law to join our close knit family at our office. Role Description The ideal candidate will be working out of our Cornwall, Ontario office and preference will be shown to candidates willing to work out of our office. However, for some candidates we may allow you to occasionally work remotely. Experience and comfort with technology (i.e. Unity, Teraview, Fast Company, Ontario Business Registry, ESC, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Word, Outlook, Clio etc.) is an asset. Excellent English writing and speaking skills are essential. For candidates focusing on corporate/commercial law you will work closely with the managing partner of the firm to help with corporate reorganizations, prepare corporate resolutions, incorporations, by-laws, shares, prepare minute books, communicate effectively with clients, etc. For those focusing in the area of real estate law you will be expected to prepare closing documents, letters, reports, coordinate the closing of real estate transactions with your colleagues, communicate with clients, other law firms and government bodies, organize files and occasionally participate in client meetings as needed. Meeting tight deadlines will be required during busier times of the month. At times the work environment can be fast-paced and require the candidate to stay calm in the face of tight deadlines. Being able to take on multiple files at one time, with a strong sense of organization and attention to detail and who can learn quickly would be valuable attributes to excel in the role.
